Opening your own shop

What Artmire asks for, and what you get once you are approved.

Anyone can ask to become a seller on Artmire and open a shop, under one condition only: that what you offer is worth keeping by its next owner. There is no switch to turn on yourself — you send us a short request to become a seller, we read it, get back to you, and if it is a fit we set your shop up with you after we have signed a contractual agreement. Every shop on Artmire has been handpicked by us, and that is part of what a buyer is trusting when they order.

If you already buy on Artmire, you do not need a second account. Selling is added to the account you buy with, so one sign-in covers both and nothing on your buyer side moves.

If you do not have an account yet, make one first — the seller side will be attached to it.

Several places open the same short form to become a seller:

The handshake icon in the top bar, beside the sign-in and join icons — its tooltip reads Open a shop on Artmire. It is there only while you are signed out.
The footer, in the SELL column: Sell an item.
The How to sell page, where an Open a shop on Artmire button sits beside each section.

There is no seller sign-up page and no address to bookmark — the request is a window that opens over whatever page you are on. Once you have a shop, the footer link and the How to sell buttons take you to your items instead.

What it costs

Nothing to apply, and nothing to keep a shop open. Artmire earns a commission on each item that sells — a percentage of the sale price, carried on the item itself rather than billed as a monthly fee.

What opens up once you have a shop

A second menu appears beside your account menu, headed Artmire Shop and carrying your shop's name and picture. It holds the seller area in three groups:

Shop — Shop Details, Shop Policies, Shop Settings, Shop Vacation Mode, Shipping Profiles and Items.
Customers — Offers, Chat Messages and Reviews.
Sales — Deliveries and Earnings.

Your buyer menu stays exactly where it was. Favourites, cart, orders and deliveries are all still there, because a seller on Artmire can still be a buyer for another seller's items.

Two things Artmire still decides

Two switches stay with us, and they are worth knowing about before you start rather than after:

Publishing your shop page. Your shop gets a public page at a web address you choose, but we are the ones who publish it — and it cannot be published until all four of your shop policies are written. The Shop Details page tells you which are still missing.
Publishing your items. Some sellers are given publishing rights and put their own listings live themselves. Without them you prepare an item and we publish it for you.

They are separate switches. Your items can be live on the Artmire platform while your shop page is still unpublished, and an unpublished shop page still works for anyone you send the link to — it is simply unlisted.

Where to start

In the order the seller area expects, and the order that gets you selling soonest:

Shop Details — your shop's name, its web address and what you want buyers to know about you.
Shop Policies — the four a buyer reads before ordering, and the four your shop page needs before it can be published.
Shipping Profiles — what you charge to send a piece, and where you send it.
Items — and then your first listing.
