Where every conversation lives, how they are grouped, and what you can do in one.
Messages in your account is every conversation you have on Artmire, in one place. Each one is attached to a particular item, so you always know what is being discussed.
You do not start a conversation from this page — you start it from an item, with Ask Seller. This page is where they all collect afterwards. An empty inbox says as much: conversations begin from an item's Ask Seller button.
The list runs down the left, most recent first, each entry showing who you are talking to and the last thing said. A red dot marks a conversation with something unread in it.
Above the list are three filters: All Messages, From Buyers and From Sellers. If you both buy and sell, this is what keeps the two sides of your life apart.
The item's title and price sit at the top and link back to the listing, with Make an Offer and Buy Now beside them — so a conversation can turn into a purchase without going to find the item again.
Translate converts a single message into your language, and Show original puts their words back. Auto-translate messages does it for everything arriving, without asking each time.
Artmire is used across several countries, so this is worth turning on if you deal with sellers abroad — it removes the main reason people hesitate to write.
Our team may write to you directly, and those conversations appear as Artmire Support Team. We only ever contact you in a conversation of our own — nobody from Artmire will ever join a conversation between you and a seller.
A red dot marks the conversation, the count appears on your account menu and on your picture — and if you have not read it after a few minutes, an email as well, quoting the start of the message and linking straight to the thread.
One email per conversation, not one per message: a seller writing five lines does not send you five. Email addresses and phone numbers are hidden in it exactly as they are on Artmire — the same masked text you would read on the site.
You can turn the emails off under Account → Chat message emails. The red dot stays either way; it is the badge that never leaves.
Conversations and messages cannot be deleted — not yours, not theirs. A thread is the record of what was agreed about a purchase, and that record is what protects both sides if there is ever a disagreement. Write accordingly.
Sensitive information is hidden automatically in messages, and every message you receive has a flag for reporting it. It asks what is wrong — Scam or off-platform payment, Harassment or abuse, Inappropriate content, or Other — with room for detail, and our team reviews it. Payment and conversation belong here, where there is a record.
